Topic 3: Best Practices and Do’s & Don’ts

  • Normalize the mistake or error and show it as an important element in your learning process
  • Try to be flexible and observe the attitudes of students to modify and/or adapt contents, types of activities or teaching strategies to the specific group
  • Offer proposals that develop autonomy and favour the creation of links with the linguistic environment to boost their integration process and get to better know the community around them
  • Make in-class informal consultations and encourage the teacher-students negotiation about classroom decisions in order to learn about preferences and individual aspects (affective, cognitive and learning styles) and gradually introduce new proposals
  • Integrate into your lesson materials selected by the students themselves that can be useful to know the cultures present in the classroom and to engage them in the learning process
  • Try to gradually integrate digital equipment and materials such as video and audio-visual materials, computer equipment with Internet access, beamer, etc.
