Topic 2: Monitoring and evaluating (M&E) the learning outcomes of a course for adult migrants: methodology, tools and templates

There are clear systems for offering course participants advice on their language learning.

Course participants’ progress is monitored and assessed on a regular basis during the course.

Course participants use a language portfolio, such as that prepared by the Council of Europe specifically for Adult Migrants, to regularly monitor their own progress through self-assessment. They are given guidance and encouragement in the use of the portfolio

There are regular progress tests or assessable tasks for course participants.

Some of the progress tests or tasks include an oral part.

Course participants are given adequate feedback about their progress during the course.

Educators consult with learners about the aims and content of their course and methods used shortly after the beginning of the course, and regularly throughout it.
