Governing migratory flows require intense international cooperation and international organisations active involvement. In particular, the EU works closely with the following National Organizations:
United Nations (UN), including the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)– EU cooperates closely with UNHCR on dealing with refugee and asylum issues and policies, within the direction of enhancing asylum capacity-building and refugee protection in non-EU countries.
the International Organization for Migration (IOM). To enhance cooperation on migration, development, humanitarian response and human rights issues, three European Commission services (DG HOME, DG DEVCO, DG ECHO) and the European External Action Service (EEAS) established a framework for strategic partnership with IOM in July 2012. The core scope of this cooperation is to establish a well managed international migration framework both for migrants and society.
the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), as well as many other international organizations and global processes.
