Forgetting the password or experiencing some kind of security breach that may have disclosed a password are the most common situations where a user may need to reset a password. In this process, users may confirm or certify their identity.

Present the most used resetting passwords methods (email, phone and security question) and then describe the steps to choose a new password for each of the above-mentioned methods.

Social media are full of opportunities to create valuable work or social networks for migrant students and to have fun but there are some risks to consider before start sharing something publicly.

Introduce your students to the term “digital footprint” and give examples of the consequences of digital footprints in real-life lives.

Then, taught them to become responsible and cautious social media users by explaining how to use privacy settings and offering tips for positive social media behaviour.

Helping your students to make safe internet use will comprise the following steps:

  • List and talk about the most common online threats and types of scams (malware, phishing, dangerous sites, emails and pop-up windows, etc.)
  • Talk about some free /paid antivirus software
  • Provide them with tips to recognize unsafe online content and safe hands-on strategies to deal with them.
  • Explain some ways to report scams and how to move and email to the spam folder.

Computers can stop working at any time either due to hard drive failure or malware and the may loose important stored files and documents.

Guide your students to copy their files to an external hard drive or to an online backup service.

Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of both methods and let them practice backing-up and restoring sample files.
