Unit 3

Introduction

The present Unit will provide trainers (volunteer learners) with basic guidelines, tools, strategies, approaches, learning techniques and methodologies for further developing final participants (migrants) literacy skills in Greek language, on the following areas:

Listening and Communicating. In particular, final participants (migrants) will be able to:

  • Identify and extract relevant information and detail in straightforward explanations.
  • Make requests and ask concise questions using appropriate language in different contexts.
  • Listen to and respond appropriately to other points of view, respecting conventions and turn taking.

Reading. In particular, final participants (migrants) will be able to:

  • Read correctly long words.
  • Identify, understand and extract main points and ideas in and from texts
  • Understand organisational features and use them to locate relevant information.

Writing – spelling, punctuation and grammar. In particular, final participants (migrants) will be able to:

  • Use a range of punctuation correctly.
  • Form irregular plurals.
  • Use mostly correct grammar.
  • Spell correctly long words.
